About Sean Lambert

Sean P. Lambert is best known for his abstract renderings on paper and canvas, utilizing a bright color palette in a variety of mediums. The artist’s singular style seamlessly translates across a diverse array of presentations. From the delicate brushwork of small scale paintings to the vibrant intensity of his more sizable compositions, Lambert’s dedication to color, form and balance is a fresh and vibrant take on contemporary creativity. Unafraid to mashup imagery with his more familiar milieu, Lambert’s explorative nature comes full circle in a variety of pieces wherein the viewer can interpret the ranging lines and shapes as recognizable pieces of a larger continuous whole.

Lambert won the 2018 Nike BIKETOWN Design Challenge, Northeast, one of only five winning designs city-wide. Ten bikes were custom wrapped with Lambert’s artwork and debuted in the NE Portland neighborhood, then added to the BIKETOWN fleet throughout the summer. In 2017, Lambert worked with Forest Park Elementary School in Portland, OR, to lead “Kindergarten Quadriptych, 2017”. This explorative painting collaboration with kindergarten students produced work sold at annual auction to benefit the school. This three-phase project began with Lambert sketching a few basic outlines on canvases to help focus the young artists’ efforts, then working with the class of 20+ students through two additional rounds of painting to complete four final compositions. After the compositions dried, Lambert did one final round, adding his own brushwork and additional lines to highlight and accentuate the many lively pre-existing colors and forms.

In the summer of 2019, Lambert joined forces with Pensole design academy and Sneaker Week to create a community-focused mural “Stronger Together”, highlighting the work of many young artists gathered at the People’s Market, who directly contributed to the creation of this piece.

Lambert also collaborated with the Men’s Residential Center in Portland, OR, on a mural project titled “Meditation on Cool”. This large scale piece extends across the garden facing exterior wall at an alcohol and drug treatment facility, beautifying an important space of reflection and healing.

With the 2020 pandemic forcing many small business to shutter their retails locations, Lambert has collaborated with stencil artist, Lambtown42, on a series of murals enlivening boarded-up storefronts. Their mural work was featured in the Willamette Week’s coverage of the Portland Street Art scene - VOL 46/29 05/13/2020
